Autumn Winds

Original date of completion: Sept. 11th, 2009.

This was made for the September 2009 round of #fantasy-xchange. I got *ashley-lee's awesome werewolf character, Kurt (though all of her characters are awesome and you should seriously check them out). His design in this picture is a bit outdated now since I think his colors are more muted like in this picture.

Original Description:
I wanted to do a pencil sketch with some minimal light shading, but a background found its way into there. XD

I'm trying to practice humans/bad-ass creatures as much as possible, so it was really hard for me to choose if I wanted to draw Kurt in his lycan or human form. I ended up choosing the lycan form because, dude, it's badass D: (and I still don't feel very confident about my humans). I used this picture from posemasters as reference since I recently did another picture of one of my characters sitting on a bench and it turned out to be pretty LOLtastic. I spent 3 days scribbling on it and I didn't even want to show the sketch in my journal under a friends lock. YAH IT WAS THAT BAD... D:

Back to the subject, I'm really pleased with how this picture turned out. I quickly sketched it out last night in one sitting, and did all the coloring today in one sitting. Just one year ago something like this would take me about a week or so to finish using the same reference (most time going into the sketch, of course). Hopefully it's because I'm more experienced and not because I'm not worrying about every little detail as much as I did back then. >.>

I think I didn't really capture the whole "urban" setting all that well, so just imagine that he's in a park on the outer edges of the city or....something (note to self, learn to draw buildings).
